विशाखापट्टनम: आंध्र प्रदेश के विशाखापट्टनम में एक प्लांट में जहरीली कैमिकल गैस स्टीरीन लीक हो गई। घटना गुरुवार तड़के आर.आर. वेंकटपुरम गांव में हुई। इस हादसे में 11 लोगों की मौत हो गई है। संयंत्र से तीन किलोमीटर के दायरे में जहरीली गैस के फैलने से कई गाय, कुत्ते समेत अन्य जानवरों की भी मौत हो गई।
इसका प्रभाव संयंत्र से करीब तीन किलोमीटर के दायरे तक रहा। इस हादसे के बाद प्रभावित गांवों को खाली करा लिया गया। गैस लीक होने के चलते 300 लोगों को कई अस्पतालों में भर्ती कराया गया है। इन स्थानों के आसपास रहने वाले नागरिकों से अपील की गई है कि वह सुरक्षा कारणों से घर से बाहर न निकलें।
जानकारों के मुताबिक, स्टीरीन का इस्तेमाल रबड़, पॉलिस्टीरीन प्लास्टिक, फाइबर ग्लास, पाइप, ऑटोमोबाइल पार्ट्स, प्रिंटिग व कॉपी मशीन, टोनर, फूड कंटेनर्स, पैकेजिंग का सामान, जूतों, खिलौनों, फ्लोर वैक्स, पॉलिश में होता है।
वहीं मुख्यमंत्री जगन मोहन रेड्डी ने इस घटना के मृतकों के परिजनों को 1 करोड़ रुपये की सहायता राशि देने का ऐलान किया है। साथ ही वेंटिलेटर पर उपचाराधीन लोगों को 10 लाख रुपये दिए जाएंगे। इसके अलावा, अस्पताल में भर्ती अन्य लोगों को 1-1 लाख रुपये सहायता राशि देने का एलान किया है।
अपने बेहोश बच्चों को गोद में उठाए मदद के लिए बदहवास घूम रहे माता-पिता, सड़कों पर पड़े लोग, घटनास्थल से जान बचाकर भाग रहे लोग जैसे अफरा तफरी के मंजर ने एक बार फिर 1984 भोपाल गैस त्रासदी की भयावह यादें ताजा करा दीं। हालांकि भोपाल कांड इससे बड़ा हादसा था, लेकिन मंजर एक-से थे।
